'We can't afford leadership training'

If I am talking to SMEs or even larger corporate businesses, this is often the first sentence I hear.



But I want to ask you this: What is the cost of ignoring training needs?


Can YOU AFFORD NOT TO expand your and/or your team's skills?


Can you afford

  • to loose your best team members because someone lacks leadership skills?

  • to loose valuable knowledge and company cultural understanding?

  • to loose customers because you have weak teams?

  • to have a gap in your team whilst you are looking for a new team member?

  • to spend around £5.000 on average to re-recruit for that vacancy?

  • to spend hours and hours (which do cost!) preparing job advertising, reading applications, interviewing, recruiting, finding out people drop out short notice, start all over again...?

  • to drop extra work on everyone else in that team for an extended time?


Overall it's calculated that a refill process costs >£20.000 - and this is just recruiting for one post!


Very serious costs that could be avoided by investing a much smaller amount into training or coaching!


Talking of costs...


Many HR departments think it's efficient to find the cheapest training provider in the market. The problem with that, as so often in life, is that you get what you paid for.


The difference of working with me is that you get the following:


  • I work with you and your organisation on developing training material that is designed for your needs and your company culture!

    • What I am not doing, is feeding you off-the peg material I've used for years.

  • We enter a strategic and creative process together to identify training goals and outcomes. This means together we create value for money as we identify the underlying need and how we might address it.

    • What I am not doing is preparing and delivering training that is not connected to strategic vision and company goals

  • I support you in overcoming your company-internal hurdles. Maybe you need extra material to present to your CEO or to the works council, or you would like a little video about the training you want to roll out. I will do my very best to work with you on these things.

    • What I don't do is leaving you sweating when as a team, we can easily make progress. To me, an engagement is real team work!

  • I am also fulfilling the actual training sessions. So, you don't suddenly have a totally disconnected person delivering the training. Where that isn't possible, I will bring in one of my associates from the beginning of our work together.

    • What I don't do is promising you the world and then hiring trainers who have not been part of our journey together so far. Consistency and quality is a hallmark of my work.

  • I have time for you. I don't overbook my calendar to such a degree that you can never reach me. I understand that training programmes need time and thought and also can produce a last-minute problem- I am there for you to solve those.

    • What I don't do is leaving you alone to sort out challenges with the training programme. If you need help writing up a 'marketing blog' for your internal team, I am happy to support. If you find that there is a challenge about a certain aspect of the training (maybe the works council has an issue with it), we work together to resolve this quick and pragmatically.
