The subject of POWER is a very difficult one in leadership. Abuse and misuse of power is visible and felt in many areas of work and life.

Repeatedly, we see people having an antiquated view or misunderstanding of what the POWER in leadership actually is. Leaders for the future must take note, self-reflect and use their ‘power’ in the right way. Harnessing what is the perceived power of a leader is a desired social skill.
Today, power in leadership should be all about:
🔊 Improving business to keep and acquire customers
🔊 Improving business to retain or create jobs
🔊 Bringing positive change
🔊 Developing others
🔊 Standing up for your team
🔊 Learning from the amazing people you share ideas with
🔊 Being an example to those looking for leadership skills
🔊 Creating consensus by ‘rumbling’ with diverse ideas
🔊 Encouraging others to grow and speak up
According to Harvard Business Review, social skills like these are on demand for leaders: ‘Companies […] are increasingly on the lookout for people with highly developed social skills—especially if their organizations are large, complex, and technologically intensive.’ HRB
